Now Presenting: MediaShout

So far this month on the blog has been an exploration into some of the more recognizable names in church presentation software. During our first week, we looked at ProPresenter, and last week, we explored the features of Faithlife Proclaim. In both weeks we highlighted their features and pricing structures, and we’ve summed up who we think would benefit most from their services. We’ve also tried to point out the differences between the softwares so far. Today we continue the series by adding MediaShout to the list.

INTRODUCTION

While MediaShout 7 is the most current iteration of the software, the company itself is called MediaShout. The company’s roots go back to the 1990’s, and MediaShout debuted its software in 2000. Honestly, their team wrote their own worship software before church presentation software was a thing, and they quickly found an interested party in youth pastors. It has since grown and is still a popular choice among many ministries.

FEATURES

  • Plug-Ins

    • One of MediaShout’s strengths is their approach toward plug-ins. As they state in their own training video, plug-ins are parts of the program used for specific features that can easily be swapped out. The plug-in column is located to the right of the screen, and it’s where you can add transitions, the cues library, and key options for things like timers and text scrolling.

  • Sermon Builder

    • Sermon Builder is one of the plug-in options available in MediaShout 7. It provides a wizard to assist pastors with entering their sermon points and scriptures. You are then able to pick a theme, which allows you to have your sermon information ready to go in a short period of time.

  • Improved Stability

    • With MediaShout 7, the company is promoting the improved stability of the program. They have substantially rebuilt it to make it more stable and also more flexible.

  • Layers & Library

    • Two helpful features of the program include their layers and library tabs. The layers tab makes it easy to enter in text on various backgrounds. The library tab makes it easy to upload backgrounds and other media for quick accessibility.

  • Third Party Integrations

    • As with most of these softwares, MediaShout 7 offers a fair amount of third-party integrations. There’s really no need for an exhaustive list, but some of these include Planning Center, Elvanto, Worshipplanning.com, and BoxCast.

It should also be noted that MediaShout 7 intends to roll out even more features in the coming months, which will include social media integrations and mobile app integrations.

PRICING

So, to be honest, MediaShout offers a variety of different pricing packages. They have a package for the software itself, then they offer packages for computer bundles, plus membership, and a live-streaming package through BoxCast.

To keep things simple, we’re going to break down the pricing solely for the MediaShout 7 software. They break their pricing structure down by access and computer systems.

  • Windows Pricing

    • V7 Windows (Single) - This subscription covers one computer activation and features 46 different bible translations, and the price comes in at $399.

    • V7 Windows (Site) - This subscription covers one site license and features 70 different bible translations. A site license allows the user to activate as many systems as they need for their ministries at one location. It should also be noted that this package is accompanied by a free starter pack and is priced at $499.

    • V7 Windows (Upgrade) - This option is for churches who are currently using MediaShout 6 and need to upgrade to the latest version of the software. This package is priced at $249.

  • Mac Pricing

    • Mac (Single) - This subscription covers one computer activation and features 46 different bible translations. It’s regularly priced at $249 and is currently on sale through the end of the month for $199.

    • Mac (Site) - This subscription covers one site license and features 70 different bible translations. As mentioned above, the site license allows the user to activate as many systems as they need for their ministries at one location. This is regularly priced for $499 and on sale for $299 through the end of October.

    • Mac (Combo) - This particular package does not have a listed price online. You have to reach out to their team about it, but it says it includes multiple platforms and customized licensing.

It should also be noted that they offer a free 30-day trial of MediaShout 7. Additionally, they offer discounted prices for ministries switching over from ProPresenter and EasyWorship.

TYPICAL AUDIENCE

MediaShout 7 is a pretty major upgrade from their previous iteration, and with the expanded capabilities, I think most churches could find it useful. I think that any sized church could probably benefit from this software, but I think that churches that have a small media team would benefit from this the most. The software makes it easy to import backgrounds and layout the needed elements for Sunday mornings. Also, their 30-day trial and training videos on their website make it easy to learn the basics.

So, have you ever used MediaShout? What did you like about it? What did you not? Comment and let us know.

Stay tuned next week as we delve into the last two presentation softwares specifically designed for churches.
