2024 Digital Marketing Trends: Part One
We’re finally digging into the first blog of 2024, and with the start of a new year, it seems like a good time to dig into digital marketing trends. Marketing is a huge umbrella, and as a business who provides digital support to other businesses, we want to focus on the component of marketing that does focus on online elements. These trends are always in flux, so we want to spend this month tackling just a few of the key digital marketing trends to keep in mind for 2024.
1) Social Media Search Optimization
If you’ve been in this space for any period of time, then you know that search engine optimization (SEO) is something we’ve all been contending with for years. Finding the correct keywords to make your content rank higher on search platforms like Google is an established practice. However, this is becoming more relevant on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. This means that it’s more important than ever to consider what you’re including in your captions and hashtags. Brevity is not necessarily the rule of thumb anymore.
2) Video Marketing/Short-Form Content
All it takes is looking at the rise of apps like TikTok to see the relevance of creating short-form content. Whether it’s TikTok, YouTube shorts, or Instagram reels, short-form video content is king going into 2024. In 2023, YouTube Shorts alone were generating more than 50 billion daily views. Short-form video content is also a versatile tool; you can show everything from behind-the-scenes clips to customer testimonials to new product launches and more. Needless to say, prioritizing the creation of short-form video content, then utilizing all of the different platforms is a pretty good idea.
Of course, video marketing isn’t solely based on reels or shorts or TikToks. Keep in mind that any kind of video has the potential to perform well, and this includes things like live streaming and interactive content. Live streaming in particular can be helpful for driving engagement but also in building up a community within your followers. Video has been a useful tool in driving engagement for a while, and that only continues to be true moving into 2024.
3) Influencer Marketing
Another common form of marketing these days is influencer marketing. Not every business can afford to partner with social media influencers, but it is a popular trend right now. The influencer marketing space works not just because people want endorsements but because the authenticity of these influencers can carry a great deal of weight. So, if you can find someone in your niche, it’s a trend worth pursuing.
4) User-Generated Content
Encouraging user-generated content through contests and challenges has also been a digital marketing strategy on the rise. It helps build customer loyalty while also building a sense of community. This is also an area where influencer marketing can work in tandem and be a way to amplify your brand’s reach.
5) Privacy & Data Protection
This has less to do with the content you create and more to do with how you’re handling consumers’ data. Consumers want transparency and to know how their data will be used and whether they’re vulnerable. Protecting personal information is going to continue to be an important topic going forward, so prioritizing this protection and fostering consumer trust is a digital trend we highly recommend following.
This is only part one with a second part coming later in the month. However, have you seen some of these trends playing out? Have you been taking advantage of these trends so far this year?
